Central Bank Interest Rate History
A free, no-login chart of how major central bank policy rates have changed over time. Compare the rate history of the Fed, ECB, BoE and other major banks at a glance. This is an educational reference snapshot with sources, not live market data.
Verified reference data from each bank’s official source, compiled through early 2025 (reviewed 2025-03). Series go back to the earliest reliable date per bank (1999 for the ECB and BoJ). Not a live feed — confirm current figures on the official sources.
Hover or tap the chart for values.
How it works
The chart plots each selected central bank's headline policy rate as a step line — a level holds until the next change — back to the earliest reliable date per bank (1999 for the ECB and BoJ, 2000 for the rest). Use the 1Y / 5Y / 10Y / Max range buttons, and hover or tap the chart for the exact rate at any date.
Values come from each bank's official rate series (cross-checked against FRED and official statistical portals) and are a dated reference snapshot — useful for context, not a live or official feed.
Example calculation
- Select banks and a range (try Max) to compare full tightening and easing cycles since the early 2000s.
- Hover or tap the chart to read each bank's rate at a given date; verify exact figures on the official sources.
