How it works
One pip is the smallest standard price increment for a pair — 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for JPY-quoted pairs. Pip value per standard lot = pip size × contract size (100,000 units).
For smaller positions the value scales linearly: a mini lot (0.10) is one tenth and a micro lot (0.01) is one hundredth of the standard-lot pip value.
Example calculation
- EURUSD · USD account · 1.00 lot.
- Pip value = 0.0001 × 100,000 = $10 per pip per standard lot.
- Per 0.10 lot = $1.00 · per 0.01 lot = $0.10.
Frequently asked
How is pip value calculated?
Pip value per standard lot = pip size × contract size (100,000). For most pairs the pip size is 0.0001 (0.01 for JPY pairs), giving about $10 per pip per standard lot when the quote currency matches your account currency.
What if my account currency is different from the pair?
When the quote currency differs from your account currency, a conversion rate is needed, so the tool asks for the pair price or a manual override to keep the figure accurate.
Is the pip value calculator free?
Yes — free, no login, and nothing you type is stored.
